rules to live by from the Chai brothers of Odin

above are some shirts from the company Odin, a new york based company founded by the Chai brothers, Richard and Eddy, two men who definitely know their class.
now if you're looking at the prices and thinking "whoaaaa" i definitely know where you're coming from. nevertheless, the Chai brothers recently were interviewed by Details magazine, offering some style tips of their own that aren't bound by the size of your wallet.

here are a couple of their thoughts:

"I couldn't survive summer without shorts. When it's humid, trousers just don't cut it. But if you're one of those guys who wear gigantic cargo shorts with stuffed pockets, just say no."—Eddy

"The key to men's style is always being a little undone. You should never look too precious or have colors match too perfectly. And don't be afraid to mix different patterns together, like a plaid with a stripe."—Richard

tracy morgan tweets

sorry to keep bringing up 30 rock here, but if you haven't seen this show yet, you better get on it. tracy morgan is down right hilarious. his new movie death at a funeral is out now, and if i go see it he will be the sole reason. his character on 30 rock, tracy jordan, is known for doing and outdoing his crazy antics, from dressing up like a liz lemon's best friend "becky", white make-up and all, to creating the world's first XXX video game (i'm not talking about the action hero here fyi). at least jordan knows that what he does is bananas, encapsulated by his line "we're lucky people laugh when i say stuff."

for a man who spends way too much time with his shirt off,  a la the picture below, he makes great comedy.

J.Cole - We On

some new j.cole out there for your listening pleasure.

i don't think i can sing this guy's praises enough. his first mixtape, the come up, dropped in '07, and his second mixtape, the warm up, dropped in '09. i literally have the warm up  bumping all day, so many tracks that you can just listen to again and again.

now he's the first rapper signed to jay-z's new label, rocnation, and got on XXL's Freshman of 2010.
his lyricism, his stories, his rhymes, he hits it all on point, if you need a new rapper to listen to, it should be him.

tina fey is one classic character

tina fey has come a long way. from doing sketches and weekend update on snl to winning emmys and writing/creating 30 rock, she's definitely hit it out of the park. not only is she successful on screen (her recent movie, Date Night, is out now), but her comedy is intelligent and witty. sure beats having to listen to will ferrell jokes all day (gotta say though, nothing beats a boring afternoon with some classic Frank the Tank). it seems like ms. fey finds humor in everything, and yet behind her hilarious exterior, you can definitely tell that she puts in so much work to be as successful as she is today. her recent interview with esquire definitely shows how she can find humor in the smallest things.

here's an excerpt from the article:

"My four-year-old daughter has a pretend hair-and-nail salon, and I was doing her hair and makeup. I said, "Hello ma'am. What's your name? And what do you do?" And she said, "I get paid to dance at parties." And I said, "Oh, no. That's a terrible, terrible answer."
She says she looks like Barack Obama. I think she heard so many people at that time saying I looked like Sarah Palin, I think she was just trying to get in on that. "I look like Barack Obama." Okay. Sure."

25 rules on how to look good

these days, everyone is on a budget, money is tight, so we have to be careful what we spend it on. no one wants to through away money on a dumb looking shirt or pants that are way too long.

lucky for us, GQ was thinking ahead, and published this article/slideshow in it's recent issue featuring Shia LaBeouf (whom i used to despise and yet now somehow like, disturbia changed everything). anyways check it out, sheds light on a lot of things that we guys should be paying attention to.

the magazine dubs it "25 rules that will make you a better-dressed, more cost-conscious man"
check it here.

so do you really want an iPad? here's some advice

so the iPad has swept through the country, with thousands on thousands of people buying apple's new toy. i don't know about you, but i am definitely intrigued by all apple products. with an iphone and a macbook pro, i can definitely say i made the right decision when i decided to leave my crappy ibm desktop behind. still, i've been on the fence about the iPad, why would i need one if i already have an iphone? will it really make a difference in my life? don't get me wrong, if someone threw me an iPad my way, i'm okay with that. but if you're like me and finding trouble deciding, here's an article from the nyTimes weighs the pros and cons of the iPad. oh and a video after the break exploring apple's new invention, so keep on reading...

Kevin Durant is NBA's Scoring Champion

kevin durant never ceases to amaze me. KD does it all, drops point, get rebounds, hits clutch shots, gets assists, oh yeah, and he drops points, just in case that didn't get across. plus he plays defense! averaging 30.1 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 2.8 apg, durant captured the scoring title, being the youngest player to do so. only 21 years old, KD pushed himself into serious mvp  consideration. as long as he keeps the Oklahoma City Thunder in playoff contention, he might be one the few players for the next few years to seriously challenge LBJ. let's see how the thunder do in the playoffs...

here's a look at kd's 2009 2010 highlights:

New Donnis Video - Gone

Donnis - Gone [Unedited] (Directed by BBGUN) from bbgun on Vimeo.

Donnis, another XXL Freshman of 2010 and an Atlanta native, has just put out his new video Gone. Enjoy.

wiz khalifa's kush and orange juice.

in case you don't know who wiz khalifa is, he is originally name cameron thomaz, from pittsburgh. recently named to XXL's Freshman of 2010, wiz was named the "most charismatic". before Kush and Orange Juice, he put out Flight School, which i wasn't a huge fan of, but bumped anyway.

get your new wiz khalifa here.

guys can do JCrew [too]

over the past few years, JCrew definitely has become a clothing company that sells clothes that guys can comfortably say they wear. looking past the obvious preppy polos, seersucker shorts/pants, shorts with anchors on them and all that, when worn right, plays off a very laid back but confident look. while i'm still terrified of wearing cardigans and shorts that are more than three inches above my knees, i can always find clothes at JCrew that don't necessarily fit in to the "on the weekends i spend my time between my sailboat and my country house" look.   presenting, a few understated pics from JCrew's spring/summer 2010 book after the break...

hahaha a must read.

now everyone has probably heard enough about tiger woods and his whole scandal thing, but i had to give a shoutout to this website broslikethissite.com. if you're a guy, you can probably relate to something that they have on their list. now short of winning the Masters, i don't think tiger woods could have returned to the world golf with more fanfare. and regardless of his (recent) past, you have to admit, guy's a bro. for the full article, click here, but here's a little excerpt:

"On November 27, 2009 bros hit the f-ing jackpot. It was on this day that one of our favorite athletes, video games, and Gatorade flavors became so much more. It was on this day that Tiger Woods became the f-ing man. As news emerged about the porn stars, reality TV sluts, and waitresses from sh-y restaurants that Tiger had banged, bro-haters across the world decided to judge him by spewing brocial slurs such as “sinner,” “sexual deviant,” “liar,” “creep,” or “pervert.” While all these hateful words emerged across the country, there were only two words that came to any true bro’s mind: “Bro. King.” Bros f-ing love Tiger Woods."

fyi. if you want to be classy, don't do what tiger did.

Wale Freestyle - I'm Ill

i feel like wale has definitely gone a little bit too far under the radar on the mainstream level. yes he was on XXL's Freshman of 2009 cover and dropped an album (attention deficit) last year, but he hasn't had the commercial success fellow freshman asher roth or kid cudi have had. nevertheless, appreciate him by listening to this track.

get it: Wale - I'm Ill Freestyle
